California’s long term bonds have been downgraded to near junk status, raising interest rates on state borrowing. This hasn’t stopped Republicans from pushing forward with an additional $9 billion in borrowing to pay for the high speed rail boondoggle.

Angry taxpayers have served Governor Schwarzenegger with notice of intention to recall him. The taxpayer group Taxpayers United to Recall Governor Schwarzenegger served the governor with notice last week. The notice is the first step in the process of recalling the governor.

OC Register editor Steve Greenhut today wrote a ringing endorsement of recalling Jim Silva. Greenhut reminds readers of Silva’s dismal track record of favoring unions over taxpayers and worsening county finances by retroactively spiking county pensions.

The LA Times reports that Assembly member Diane Harkey took campaign cash from developers who borrowed money from husband’s business, later failing to repay the money. Her husband Dan Harkey’s business is now the target of a lawsuit alleging that he operated a Ponzi scheme, as well as an SEC investigation.
The Tax Revolt movement gained strength this weekend, with tens of thousands gathering at Saturday’s Tax Revolt Rally in Fullerton. The turnout showed a growing taxpayer movement that is opposed to out-of-control state spending and tax increases, and that is willing to take action. More importantly, rally attendees demonstrated a desire to spread tax revolt to oppose federal, as well as state excess.

It seems that the GOP is scared of Tax Revolt 2009, and is fighting back with dirty tricks. Tax Revolt 2009 attorney Mark Patlan is reportedly under cyber attack by apparent party operatives. On the eve of today’s Tax Revolt rally, Patlan’s business email account was deluged with several thousand of hostile SPAM emails in a cowardly attack, under cover of darkness.
